Backlink Profile From Eventbrite.com - Eventbrite was established at the end of 2006, in 2006 by Kevin Hartz (Co-Founder and Executive Chairman) and Julia Hartz (Co-Founder and CEO) as well as Renaud Visage (Co-Founder and CTO). It was the first major player in the marketplace across the US.
Prior to his appointment within the firm, Kevin Hartz was involved in PayPal and was Co-Founder and CEO for Xoom Corporation, an international money transfer business. Julia Hartz, wife of Kevin was born within Santa Cruz, CA. After completing her broadcasting studies in Pepperdine University, she became an executive in the field of creative at FX Network in Los Angeles. Shortly after, the couple became engaged, she relocated back to Bay Area and helped co-found Eventbrite.
On March 18, 2011, Eventbrite has raised $50m from Series E Financing facilitated by Tiger Global. 5 April 2013 Eventbrite secured another $60 million in capital growth financing that was led by Tiger Global, and including T. Rowe Price. 6. On March 13th 2014 Eventbrite secured a private equity investment of $60,000 and on September 1 in 2017, it raised $134 million via the Series G round of funding. The total amount of funding at $334m. The previous funding was involving firms like Sequoia Capital, DAG Ventures and Tenaya Capital.
In 2016 Julia was appointed CEO of Eventbrite in 2016, while Kevin was appointed the executive chairman.
In March of 2017, Eventbrite purchased D.C.-based event company Nvite for an unspecified amount. 10 June the 9th of June, 2017, Eventbrite acquired Ticketfly by Pandora at a price of $200 million. The intention was to boost the position of Eventbrite within the live-music industry however, according to the observers the company's executives, they were still trying to integrate Ticketfly in 2019.
In April of this year, Eventbrite acquired the Spanish ticketing platform Ticketea with the intention of highlighting its event discovery platform and "robust ecosystem of third-party integrations" as being beneficial. In the following the same month Eventbrite came under critiques over an amendment on its sellers' contract which stated that the service was entitled to be present and film footage at any event, regardless of the reason and that event hosts were "responsible for obtaining, at your own cost, all third party permissions, clearances, and licenses necessary to secure Eventbrite the permissions and rights [to do so]." After public outrage, Eventbrite chose to remove the clause completely. The company said it would like of "work with individual organizers to secure video and photos at their events for marketing and promotional purposes" However, it acknowledged that the provisions were too broad-minded.
In August of 2018, Picatic, a Vancouver-based ticketing and event registration system was purchased by Eventbrite.
In April of 2020, during the coronavirus epidemic that caused a dramatic decline in events held in person, Eventbrite laid off around 45 percent of its employees at the time, which was between 1,000 to 1,100. According to reports, online events been less than 10 percent of its revenue in the year 2019.
As of November 20, 2020, it purchased ToneDen which is a social media marketing firm located on Los Angeles.
